About Ninos De Peru

Children in Peru continue to be the most vulnerable and unprotected citizens. Of the 3.8 million people living in extreme poverty, 2.1 million are children. Of the total 10.2 million under-18 population, more than 6.5 million live below the poverty line.

Ninos De Peru has partnered with the Franciscan Youth (*) to help a school in the town of Huancalle. The town is located in the Sacred Valley before the town of Pisac, approximately one hour from Cuzco. The school serves 200 children between the ages of 5 and 13.

Unfortunately, for virtually all of these children, this is the only formal schooling they will receive. Upon graduating, they will end their formal education and begin working in the fields, streets, or shops. Our focus is to provide assistance to help the school achieve their goal of ending this cycle of under education. We will do this through providing expanded school resources, opportunities for exploring higher education options, and educating the children on professional career choices.

This goal will be a journey that needs consistent and reliable support. However, achieving the goal of having some children further their education and become professionals will eventually end this cycle. These adult’s close ties to their local community and school will draw them into becoming role models and providing financial assistance to the school.

With your help we can make a small difference that creates a better life for many!

* The Franciscan Youth organization is one of the most active charitable associations in Cuzco, Peru. They are dedicated to helping children by providing food, shelter, medical assistance and education. Although their numbers are small they are essentially providing assistance to a city 1 1/2 times the population of Boise!

Any assistance they receive goes directly to the people they serve, not to advertising, marketing, or other organizational expenses. This is a true opportunity to have a single act of kindness impact a deserving young life.
